GreyFriars is a Michelin recommended luxury hotel and dining destination, created in a magnificent range of Grade II* and Grade II listed buildings in Colchester’s historic Cultural Quarter, close to the Castle and only a short walk from the town centre with its flagship Fenwicks store and delightful independent boutique shops as well as larger retailers.
GreyFriars has 26 luxuriously appointed bedrooms including a number of Grand Luxe Signature Suites, Deluxe Suites and Junior Suites. All rooms are designed and fitted to 5* standards with beautiful marble bathrooms or shower rooms. Every room is different, reflecting the origin and history of the buildings.
This beautiful location is accessible, inclusive and welcoming to all, with ample secure complimentary parking. Many rooms are accessible by lift; others are accessed via a small staircase; assistance with luggage is always provided. We have one fully accessible Junior Suite with its own private courtyard, marble floor, marble bathroom.
All day dining is on offer in our comfortable lounges, C18th Baroque Bar and the terrace (weather permitting), 7 days a week.
A la carte and table d’hote menus are served in Cloisters Restaurant for Lunch and Dinner, 7 days a week. Fresh Oysters, for which Colchester is famous, are a speciality.
Traditional Afternoon Tea and Gentlemen’s Afternoon Tea is served in the beautiful Rose Room, every day of the week from midday onwards.
