It’s never easy to leave Middle Farm. The problem is there’s always another nook, corner outpost or alcove to explore, with yet more delicious or beautiful treats to be discovered.
The sprawling farm shop features a butcher, cheesemonger, bakery and veg shop, all packed with top-quality local produce. But before you even get to it, you’re likely to stay a while in the courtyard nursery, browsing the myriad of plants for sale.
If you’re in need of a booster, you’ll find coffees, cakes, cream teas and light lunches to the rear of the sunny Tearoom courtyard. But for grown-up treats, perhaps the greatest delights lie in the Cider Barn. The National Collection of Cider & Perry has over 100 draught ciders and perries on tap, available to sample, alongside a carefully chosen selection of both craft and traditional Sussex ales.
Finally, head for the alcove in the far left corner to find yourself in a cramped little cellar packed with a who’s who of quality English winemaking.
