After sampling the best of the area’s beer, a tour of one of the local breweries is a must on your schedule.
On a visit here, there’s nothing finer than seeing the contrast of beautifully maintained gardens against a backdrop of rolling countryside and natural beauty. With the likes of the Chatsworth Estate and Thornbridge Hall & Gardens offering tours, you’ll discover plenty of Instagrammable locations, so be sure to bring your camera. Better yet, some of these historic estates offer accommodation, so you can wake up feeling like nobility.
Getting here and around
Being one of England’s Area’s of Natural Beauty, the Peak District & wider Derbyshire (PDD) is relatively unspoilt, with miles upon miles of greenery and untouched natural areas.
The most convenient way to the Peak District & Derbyshire with your own vehicle is arriving by P&O Ferries into Hull. From there it is an approximately one and a half hour drive to Bakewell for example.
The neighbouring cities surrounding the PDD area have good connections for arriving into the area including mainline stations (Sheffield), the M1 and M6 and A roads and is close to international airports (Manchester and Sheffield Doncaster). Once in the county, there are lots of accessible roads to get to the main tourist areas such as Bakewell and there are railway stations in the Derwent.
