Tea from The Manor holds a delightful story, creator James Green is a military man who started his career in the Royal Horse Artillery before continuing active service in Northern Ireland, Hong Kong and Cyprus for many years after. When serving in the military, James discovered the power that tea can have in creating unity amongst groups of people, this is where the idea sparked for Tea in The Manor. James is an expert in all things gourmet and discovering hidden gems in the county, he shares with us his favourite places to visit in Cheshire…
In good times and in those of conflict, tea brings people together and centres the life of soldiering. The interest of tea continued with me in “Civvy Street” and became a passion that sparked the founding of Tea from The Manor. Today, Tea from The Manor brings the finest full leaf teas from the best tea gardens around the world to delight the palates of its customers. Our loose and bagged teas are of the finest grade and taken by those seeking a first-class tea experience - passionate about tea! Our corporate clients now include: hotels and country houses, tea rooms and restaurants, garden centres and care homes.
In my time at Tea in the Manor, I have experienced the full potential of gourmet experiences that Cheshire has on offer. This beautiful county holds many hidden gems that I have discovered over the years, here are a few of my favourites...
The Chester Grosvenor
This was Tea from The Manor’s first ever client and we're still with them today. Situated in Chester City centre near to the iconic Chester Eastgate clock and a short walk from the historic Chester Cathedral. I love the quality and wide variety of their afternoon tea menus from The ‘Classic’, through to the ‘Indulgence’, which includes strawberries and champagne. Afternoon tea has been served at The Chester Grosvenor since 1882 and is long established as being the finest afternoon tea in Chester. I’m particularly fond of their beautiful Grosvenor Grey, their bespoke tea.
Tatton Park
These are a current client of ours, situated in the town of Knutsford, just 20 miles from Manchester and 30 miles from Chester. Some of my highlights from here are their apple store with its 86 variety of apples, The Farm’s Field to Fork story where visitors can learn all about vital food production in the 1940’s in a fun and interactive way and The House Keepers Store where you can shop for quality local produce, and stock up on your Tea from the Manor’s favourites.
The Courthouse Hotel are a newer client of ours, situated in the historic town of Knutsford. I enjoy visiting here as it is one of South Cheshire most iconic buildings. It's recently been refurbished to emulate the building's history and grandeur-style which can now be enjoyed at its best by hotel guests and diners. My experience of dining here has always been absolutely fantastic! They are also soon to include a brand new roof top restaurant which i'm really looking forward to.
